NORTHCOTE EXTENSION
A home addition designed to bring everyone together
Northcote Extension was designed for Kelly, Ben and their two daughters, creating a home that better supports the way they cook, entertain and spend time together. Their existing kitchen had become cramped and disconnected from the garden, making everyday life feel more difficult than it needed to be.
The addition brings northern and western light deep into the home, creating a generous kitchen and dining area that opens naturally to the outdoors. Ben now has a dedicated place to make his morning coffee, meals are prepared as a family, and the layout makes it easy to move between the kitchen, dining area and garden. A new secondary entrance also provides practical access from the side of the property, where bikes, vehicles and much of the family's day-to-day activity are centred.
More than an extension, the project has reshaped how the home is used. What was once a cramped and disconnected part of the house has become the natural centre of family life.
“It was great working with Alex. She has incredibly good taste, which is represented in the final results of her work. She listened to our needs and wants and adapted her designs accordingly. We consistently get a ‘wow’ from guests when seeing our renovation for the first time. We love our renovated house!” - Kelly and Ben
