Cottesloe Retreat is a small, freestanding addition to an existing guesthouse. Created as a place for guests to gather, relax and recharge, it provides a quiet escape while maintaining a close connection to the landscape that surrounds it.

A soaring roofline brings volume and light to the compact footprint, while a single open room accommodates a simple kitchen, private amenities and large pivot doors that open directly to the outdoors. Soft timbers and natural materials help the building sit comfortably amongst the surrounding gums, allowing the setting to remain the focus.

Though small in size, the retreat feels open and welcoming. It provides space for both company and solitude, offering guests a place to slow down, spend time together and enjoy the calm of its bushland setting.

She took time to understand our brief and the aesthetic we were seeking.
